To the Presses!
This post is a collection press photos either from the Chicago Tribune via Chicago Public Library online newspaper section, directly from Ebay, and from my private collection of photos that I purchased from Ebay. This post is an extension of a previous post
about the harbor's historical evolution

This photo is also housed in the Ravenswood-Lake View Community Association Collection. The ship pictured was the first boathouse after the Belmont (Yacht) Harbor was opened to the public in 1916. The vessel was called the Carrier II due to its cargo - logs from other ports of call

another view of the harbor with the focus on Sheridan Road. Prior to 1931 inner Lake Shore Drive was called Sheridan Road from Diversey Parkway to just north of Grace Street
there was an inlet bridge separating the larger section of the harbor with the smaller inlet
I am dating this photography of the same time period as the first shown view of the harbor - probably 1920's

There were two devastating storms that year, one in April and the other in October. The one in October was an omen to the Great Depression of 1929. The first non-craft boathouse is shown. I have more on the boathouse in the previous post.
